The Peters - Troy Family Photographer

The Peters - Troy Family Photographer

I have noticed during my short time on earth (or not so short if you ask my fiancé) that people cannot ignore children. Especially babies. People love babies. If you don’t, I’m convinced you somehow mysteriously migrated from Mars. This became clearer to me last summer when I visited the local county fair. This was no standard county fair, mind you; this was The Great Darke County Fair. We were making our rounds and as we walked through the Art exhibit, I noticed that all the photography ribbons were tacked on portraits of young children. I think the judge must have been a grandmother.

Even though most people love children, there is still a lot of crap that goes on in this world. Yes, I said crap. Ignoring fathers. Apathetic mothers. Abusing coaches. Indifferent teachers. Yesterday in our community a young boy was found dead. My prayers and condolences go to his family who is mourning their loss. I’m not sure why God allows these things to happen, but he does.

These events remind me of our responsibilities as adults to the children in our lives. Parents, uncles, grandparents, cousins, mentors – we all have young ones that look up to us in one way or another. It is our duty to pay attention; give them high-fives; share a hug; pass on a smile. And when you do this, you will change a life.

This is why I get incredibly excited when I am privilege to take photos of families committed to teaching their children well.
